Peak Shaving in District Heating Utilizing Adaptive Predictive Control

District heating systems (DHS) are driven by the heat demands of their consumers, with higher giving a load on production. While human-dependent, they contain diurnal behaviors and weather dependencies. The periods high causing peak loads production, which is operationally costly. This especially true for pumps, solution DHS to include green energy, as cost depends directly needed temperature. paper presents formulation adaptive model predictive control (MPC) inducing shaving production handle problem using distribution network storage. It also simulator describe DHS. MPC was applied data from case study in Brønderslev, Denmark, showing reduction around 8%.
